The Taoiseach Enda Kenny has signalled a possible re-shuffle of ministers as early as next year.

Mr Kenny did not express his confidence in junior minister John Halligan today when asked by reporters to do so.

He was speaking at the start of the Fine Gael annual parliamentary party think-in in Kildare.

He also repeated his calls for all ministers to get on with the jobs they were assigned to do.

Speaking earlier on the Pat Kenny Show here on Newstalk, he warned that the government could not be held "to ransom" every week.

"John Halligan has 11 responsibilities at national level, including dealing with the doubling of apprenticeships, to the school transport scheme, to research and development," he said.

"I would like to hear him devote himself to those responsibilities."

And the Taoiseach says he will review the performance of ministers next year.
