A man in his 30s has been arrested in connection with the seizure of a gun and drugs in Dublin.

Gardaí from the Drugs and Organised Crime Bureau made the discovery during the search of an apartment in the Castleknock area earlier today. 

A submachine gun and ammunition were found together with a "significant quantity" of cocaine.

Drug paraphernalia and mixing agents were also recovered during the search operation.

The arrested man is being being held at Blanchardstown garda station, where he can be questioned for up to three days.  Investigations are continuing.
