Storm Conor to hit parts of Ireland and UK on Christmas Day

Storm Barbara has now cleared over Ireland - while several weather warnings remain in effect.

But Storm Conor, the next named storm this season, will hit parts of Ireland and Britain on Christmas Day.

Met Éireann has issued two status yellow warnings for Christmas Day and St Stephens's Day.

A wind warning is in place for Donegal, Galway, Leitrim, Mayo, Sligo, Clare, Cork, Kerry and Limerick.

Southwest winds will reach average speeds between 50 and 65 km/hr.

While gusts of between 65 and 80 km/h are forecast, with strongest winds on the coasts.

Another wind warning is in effect for Donegal, Galway, Leitrim, Mayo and Sligo.

Westerly winds will reach mean speeds between 50 and 65 km/hr - with gusts between 90 and 110 km/h.

Storm Conor is expected to bring gusts of up to 96 km/hr over Northern Ireland and northern England - and up to 112km/hr in parts of Scotland.
