Former X-Factor contestant Lucie Jones will represent the UK at this year's Eurovision Song Contest.

The singer, who appeared on the reality show in 2009 with Irish duo Jedward, won the Eurovision: You Decide BBC Two show with the song  ‘Never Give Up On You’.

The track was written by 2013 Eurovision winner Emmelie De Forest and Lawrie Martin, with Boylesports putting Jones' odds of winning outrightly at 40/1.

"The real magic in that performance was you, Lucie," said judge Sophie Ellis-Bextor following her performance.

She will now perform at the Eurovision Song Contest on May 13 in Kyiv.

A song has yet to be chosen for Ireland's representative Brendan Murray, a former member of the boyband Hometown.

Jones beat off competition from fellow ex-contestant Danyl Johnson, and singers Holly Brewer, Olivia Garcia, Nate Simpson and Salena Mastroianni.
