Snap, the parent company of Snapchat, has reportedly paid $1 million for Ctrl Me Robotics, an LA-based drone manufacturer.

As the company continues to look for its unique selling point, at a time when Facebook and Instagram are offering a similar service, it appears that drones could be on the cards.

Over the past twelve months, the company has revealed some software updates and even Snapchat Spectacles. Rumours of a Snapchat drone began to surface back in March of this year.

This week, Buzzfeed reported that Snap has purchased Ctrl Me Robotics.

While there has been no word regarding what the company intends to do with the company, there is plenty of speculation doing the rounds online. Some say the company plan to produce its own drone, with other sources say Snap will simply create software to support drone devices.

Reports state the founder and entrepreneur behind Ctrl Me, Simon Saito Nielsen, will join Snap along with the company assets and equipment.
