The Cabinet is meeting in Cork today as part of the Taoiseach's pledge to hold special meetings across the country.

Leo Varadkar and his ministers will discuss health Brexit and health during the session.

Meeting at UCC, the special Cabinet meetings will be briefed by Foreign Affairs Minister Simon Coveney on preparations for Brexit.

Minister Coveney will update his colleagues on the preparations underway at dozens of state agencies – as well as the nightmare ‘no deal’ scenario.

After lunch, the meeting will hear from Health Minister Simon Harris on the first steps taken in the budget towards the funding of the all-party proposed Sláintecare plan.

The decision to hold Cabinet meetings outside the capital was taken in an effort to address claims of a Dublin bias in national politics.

The Taoiseach is beginning his day today with a business breakfast at Pairc Ui Chaoimh with the Cork Chamber of Commerce.

He will also announce a new national food hub to be set up in Cork - designed to ramp up production before the UK split.
