If you were baffled as to why your Skype, Xbox or Outlook account failed to work yesterday evening, know that you were not alone. For the second time in a month, Microsoft's online services were hit by a widespread outage.

Xbox Live, Outlook, Skype and OneDrive were just some of the services impacted. Users were unable to sign in for almost two hours yesterday. Users in Ireland were impacted by this outage.

Microsoft did not reveal the reason for the previous outage, which lasted for an hour at the beginning of the month. The firm did acknowledge yesterday's outage, however, via the Xbox Live service status.

“Our engineers and developers are actively continuing to work to resolve the issue causing some members to have problems finding previously-purchased content or purchasing new content,” read a statement. “Stay tuned, and thanks for your patience.”

We have contacted Microsoft for an updated statement.
