The RNLI say six people have been rescued after their boat got in trouble off the Cork coast.

The Courtmacsherry RNLI All Weather Lifeboat was called out at 12.16pm on Sunday to go to the aid of the 17-foot boat.

The craft got into difficulties off Coolmain, east of the Old Head of Kinsale, in west Cork.

The lifeboat was launched with a crew of six people, and reached the stricken boat within 15 minutes.

It had encountered engine difficulties and was blown onshore at the coastline called Nuns Cove.

Two RNLI crew members secured a tow line to the vessel, and towed it away from the shoreline.

They were brought back to Courtmacsherry Harbour.

Courtmacsherry RNLI lifeboat station LPO, Brian O Dwyer, said: "We are pleased that our Lifeboat was again fast away today with our ever ready volunteers always available and that the rescue was carried out with great skill and precision on a dangerous coastline in today's winds".
