Six men have been arrested following two separate attacks that left two men hospitalised in Ballyhaunis is County Mayo this morning.

The men sustained non-life threatening injuries in the incidents, which took place after a funeral in the town.

In a follow-up operation this afternoon, six men were arrested in connection with the attacks.

They are being detained in separate stations within the county.

Armed gardaí have now been deployed to patrol the streets following the violence.
