A dull, damp and windy day with fresh to strong south to southeast winds. Rain will turn heavy and persistent this morning, with a clearance developing in the west in the early afternoon, extending eastwards and clearing the rain from the east coast by evening.
Temperatures this afternoon will be between 7 and 10 degrees and the winds will veer to the southwest with the clearance of the rain.
Showers will follow in to the west later this evening and tonight and will be widespread overnight, turning wintry over the hills and mountains.
Temperatures will fall to between plus 1 and plus 3 degrees with fresh to strong south to southwest winds continuing.
