The public has until 5pm today to have their say on changes to speed limits across Dublin city centre.
If the plan goes ahead, a 30km/h speed limit would be introduced by Dublin City Council (DCC) in areas such as Crumlin, Kilmainham and Donaghmede.
Officials say the proposed changes are aimed at ensuring speeds limits on affected residential roads & streets "safe and appropriate as possible for vulnerable road users, including children".
If accepted, the 30km/h limits would be put in place in the areas marked in yellow first, with a second phase to follow for the areas marked in blue. The full map is available here
Feedback can be submitted online until 5pm this evening, with full details available on the DCC website. You can also email submissions to speedreview@dublincity.ie.
Ciaran Cuffe, Green Party Councillor for Dublin and chair of DCC transport committee, spoke to Newstalk Breakfast about the proposals.
"Really the reason for it is to make our streets a bit more safe and a bit more livable," he explained.
"We're not talking about every street in the city - we're simply talking about the residential streets. The main roads - the kind of roads you see buses and cars trying to get into town on - will remain at 50 or 80km/h, or whatever they are."
He added: "We think the people living in these areas deserve to have safer streets, yet we also have to allow people to get to where they're going. We think it is a reasonable compromise."
