Police say they have recovered a crude but viable pipe bomb following a security alert in North Belfast.

The suspicious object was found at Lepper Street.

The PSNI says it was a viable device, which has now been taken away for forensic examination.

Detectives are calling on anybody with information about the incident to contact them.
