A 23-year-old pedestrian has died after he was struck by a car in Co. Tipperary.

The incident happened on the N24, Limerick to Waterford Road at Ballykisteen at around 8pm last night.

The man suffered serious injuries and was taken to University Hospital Limerick where he was later pronounced dead.

Gardaí say no arrests have been made and the road remains closed for a forensic examination.
