Two 19-year-old men have been arrested on suspicion of murder after a man died on a street in County Down.
Police say the victim, in his 20s, was found on Bangor Road in Newtownards at about half five this morning.
He had reportedly been assaulted outside a house in the area.
Chief Inspector Justyn Galloway from Serious Crime Branch said: “Shortly after 5.30am police responded to a report that a man had been assaulted outside a house in the area.”
“A man, aged in his 20’s, was discovered lying on the road. He was treated by Ambulance staff but died at the scene a short time later. A post mortem examination will be carried out in due course to help determine the cause of death.”
Speaking to Q Radio News, Councillor Naomi Armstrong-Cotter says any piece of information is extremely important:
“This will be something that reverberates around Newtownards,” she said. “The people in Newtownards will be shocked and I also know there will be an outpouring of love and helpfulness for that family.”
