The PSNI are appealing for witnesses after the attempted murder of an officer in Belfast last weekend.

Police say they believe a Red Audi A4 was involved in the shooting at a petrol station on the Crumlin Road.

The officer is still recovering after being hit three times in the arm.

Detective Superintendent Kevin Geddes of the Serious Crime Branch outlines what they believe happened.

"The weapon used was an AK-47 type of assault rifle", he said. "At least ten shots were fired across a very busy road into a very busy filling station.

"They definitely aimed at the police officer."

Two men arrested in connection with the shooting were "released unconditionally" last week.

Taoiseach Enda Kenny has condemned the shooting, calling it an "outrageous and cowardly act".

"Anyone with any relevant information should pass it on to the PSNI immediately. I hope the officer involved makes a full and swift recovery", Mr Kenny said.
