Over 200 litres of alcohol seized at Dublin Port

Two men have been detained after Revenue officers seized 204 litres of alcohol and 1.9 kg of tobacco at Dublin Port.

The smuggled goods were found in two transit vans which arrived separately into Dublin Port on Monday from France and Holyhead respectively.

The haul included wines, beers, spirits and tobacco products.

The tobacco was branded 'Chesterfield' and 'L&M’.

The vans were searched based on routine profiling.

The drivers - a 39-year-old Polish man and a 35-year-old Lithuanian man - were questioned.

The seized goods have a total retail value of around €6,300, representing an potential loss to the exchequer of €4,250.

The seizures are part of Revenue's ongoing operations targeting the illegal importation, supply and sale of alcohol and tobacco.
