One person has died and 14 have been injured following an explosion in a block of flats at a Spanish beach resort.

Emergency services say they are not sure what caused the blast in Premia de Mar - which is around 25 kilometres north of Barcelona.

The blast is said to have happened around 8.25am local time (6.25am Irish time) 

Two of the injured are in a serious condition.
