The Garda Commissioner Nóirín O'Sullivan says the force is working with international agencies to target the assets of Irish crime gangs abroad.

Speaking this afternoon Commissioner O'Sullivan explained that the Gardaí are working to tackle the international element of Dublin's feuding gangs.

She admitted there are issues that need to be addressed in the force - but that they need more staff and investment to do that.

“It is a fact of life that organised criminality extends beyond boundaries, not just European boundaries but international boundaries,” the commissioner said.

“That's why we have very good interaction and very good co-operation and collaboration with, for example, the Drugs Enforcement Agency, with Interpol and Europol.

“No stone will be left unturned in working together collaboratively to tackle, to fight, and to bring to justice the individuals that are involved in these crimes.”
