Professional services giant Accenture has announced plans to employ 300 new workers in Dublin.

The positions are set to be rolled out this year and will include a variety of technology and design roles.

The first 100 positions will be based at the company's new Centre for Innovation in Silicon Docks, the tech hub around Grand Canal Dock. The centre itself will be officially opened by Taoiseach Enda Kenny today. Employees at the base will focus on AI, advanced analytics and the Internet of Things.

The other 200 jobs will be spread across the company's business units, with positions for developers and data analysts.

Accenture's expansion will bring its total Irish workforce to 2,500.

Accenture Ireland MD Alastair Blair said:

"We're looking for people with strong skills in digital and technology. 200 of the jobs will be in client-facing side of the business, and in addition we will be hiring a further 100 people for the dock. Very much focused on R&D, software development skills and also design."
