New Lidl stores creating 100 jobs in Dublin

Lidl has announced that it is set to hire 100 people to staff four new stores in DUblin.

The German discount supermarket will throw open the doors of its second store in Swords next week, with the Glenageary outlet following in early December.

Cabra and Portmarnock stores will then open next spring.

It is also relocating its store on Main Road, Tallaght, to the same site as its corporate headquarters, in a move which will make it the biggest outlet in Ireland.

Lidl claims it has contributed €1.5 billion to the Irish economy since it opened here 16 years ago. the retailer currently have 34 locations in Dublin.

Managing Director JP Scally said:

"Due to our ever increasing market share Lidl has actively sought to expand our presence in Dublin.

"In July we announced plans to hire an additional 600 jobs over the next two years and many of these will be for our new stores in Dublin.

"We look forward to these four stores opening in the short term and many more in the future also as we seek to expand our footprint in the capital city and the rest of the county."
