The magazine compliments Dublin's "friendly, village vibe”
Dublin has been chosen as one of the best tourist destinations in the world.
The capital has been included as one of 21 'places you need to visit in 2018' by the National Geographic Traveller magazine.
The magazine describes the city as “Ireland’s intimate capital” and compliments its "friendly, village vibe.”
"Stroll around to discover Dublin’s historic Georgian squares and cozy pubs and high-tech treasures, like the new Irish Emigration Museum and revamped National Gallery of Ireland. Discover more about Dublin," it says.
It also notes that one-third of Ireland's population is under the age of 25.
Tourism Ireland has said that it will "take every opportunity to maximise this accolade" over the coming weeks and months.
The tourism marketing body's CEO Niall Gibbons said he was delighted to see the capital feature on the list.
“It is wonderful news and will surely help inspire travellers everywhere to put Dublin and Ireland on their holiday wish-list for next year," he said.
"It provides Tourism Ireland with another great hook to continue to promote Dublin around the world as a ‘must see’ destination.”
The magazine's selection process included nominations from its "worldwide network" of writers, editors and explorers.
The list features in the December issue of the magazine, which hits shelves today.
