A man has died following a traffic collision in Co Westmeath.

It happened in Drumcree, Collinstown at around 11.00am on Sunday.

A man aged in his 40s was fatally injured when his motorbike collided with a pole.

There were no other vehicles involved in the collision.

He was pronounced dead at the scene and his body has been brought to the Midland Regional Mullingar.

A post mortem examination is to be carried out on Monday.
