Motion sensing headphones that won't break the bank

Pressing pause is so last year...

There's a pair of headphones for pretty much any price bracket, but they can vary massively in quality. That's not to say that cheap headphones are all rubbish and every expensive pair are brilliant. Confused? Same.

Rather than attempting to clear it up, here's a recommendation that falls into the mid-range price bracket but that really impress in terms of sound quality and features.

Plantronics BackBeat Sense are beautiful, on-ear headphones that retail at €180.

Straight out of the box, these feel like premium headphones. What's most surprising about them is the weight; they're incredibly light.

The BackBeat Sense are very comfortable to wear, which is important for the audiophiles amongst you. The soft cushion on the ear cups sit on the ear, rather than enveloping. They connect to a smart device via Bluetooth, but it's worth pointing out that it's possible to connect via a jack cable too, should the battery run out mid-way through the day.

Now for the cool stuff.

The BackBeat Sense have motion sensors built into the body of the cans. If a user is listening to music online, the simple act of removing the headphones will pause the music. This is very handy for those of us who like to wear headphones in work.

There's a control panel on the light cup. This allows users to pause, skip or turn up their content. There's a built-in mic too, enabling users to take calls whilst on the go.

Bottom line is that these are the ideal companion for heavy consumers of audio. They are comfortable and are a solid investment.

The BackBeat Sense are available with the purchase of the Vodafone Smart Platinum 7 for just €89.
