A government minister has defended James Reilly's record as health minister, after Micheal Martin said appointing him was the worst mistake Enda Kenny made in the health sector.

Kathleen Lynch says that Mr Martin did not "cover himself in glory" when he was in the Department of Health.

Today, the Labour leader Joan Burton said that Mr Martin was always one report away from the perfect Health Service Executive (HSE).

Junior Minister Kathleen Lynch says that Deputy Martin had more publications at the time than Rupert Murdoch.
