Three men are due before a special sitting of Trim District Court in connection with an attempted cash in transit van robbery in Meath.

They were arrested in Dunboyne on Friday after an ongoing garda operation.

The operation was lead by the Drugs and Organised Crime Bureau and involving a number of garda units.

This included the Special Crime Task Force.

Gardaí say they intercepted a number of "high level targets" during an attempted robbery outside a bank.

At least one of the suspects was wearing full body armour, and a firearm was recovered at the scene.

Two men were arrested at the scene, and another man was arrested a short distance away.

All three are due to appear before a special sitting of Trim District Court at 7.30pm this evening.
