A man shot dead in an attack in County Down last night has been named by police as 37-year-old Wayne Boylan.
A young woman was also seriously injured in the attack at a property on the Lower Dromore Road in Warrenpoint at around 7:30pm.
She was taken to hospital in Newry before being transferred to Belfast's Royal Victoria Hospital where she is in a critical condition this morning.
In a statement, PSNI Detective Chief Inspector Geoff Boyce he believed two men carried out the property.
“A motive for the incident has not yet been established and I am appealing for information.
“I would particularly like to hear from anyone who was in the area last night and who may have seen two men or any vehicles fleeing from the scene immediately after the shooting.”

Following the attack Sinn Féin MLA Sinéad Ennis said the Warrenpoint community was “shocked and stunned” by the news
“Our first thoughts are with the family of the victim,” she said.
“The PSNI have the area sealed off and I would appeal to anyone with information to bring it forward to assist the investigation."
Police are appealing for witnesses to the shooting to contact them directly or via the anonymous Crimestoppers line.
