She was found unconscious and injured in the town
A 33-year-old man has been further remanded in custody charged with raping and assaulting a woman in Carlow.
The woman aged in her 50s was found unconscious and injured on the grounds of Pollerton Castle at Pollerton Road on June 25th.
She was taken to St Luke's Hospital in Kilkenny and is described as being in a serious condition.
The accused, who cannot be named for legal reasons, will appear in court again on August 1st.
The judge was told directions are needed from the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) in the case.
