Gardaí have been carrying out detailed searches in the area using metal detectors
A man remains in a serious condition in hospital after a shooting in Bray, County Wicklow yesterday evening.
The 27-year-old was sitting in a car at St. Laurence's Terrace when he was shot a number of times through the side window at around 8:15pm.
He was hit at least three times - while a woman that was in the car with him was uninjured.
The shots were fired from a dark-coloured car which then fled the scene.
These people live nearby.
The man was taken by ambulance to hospital where he remains in a serious condition.
Gardaí remain at the scene this afternoon and have been carrying out detailed searches in the area using metal detectors.
Pat Vance, Cathaoirleach of Wicklow County Council, is asking anyone with information to contact Gardaí.
"It is a populated area," he said.
"It is a shopping center down there, right close by.
"It is an older area of the town and certainly anyone that would have any information, I certainly would advise them to come forward because we have to stamp out this type of behaviour.
"It is just not acceptable."
Investigators are appealing for anyone with any information or any witnesses to get in touch with Bray Garda Station.
