A man is due in court this morning in connection with the discovery of a body in County Kildare last year.

The remains of 24-year-old Philip Finnegan were discovered at Rahin Wood in County Kildare on the 2nd of September 2016.

The discovery was made by a member of the public who was walking his dog in the area.

Mr Finnegan had been reported missing in early August.

It has been reported that he had been living in fear of his life after being targeted by crime gangs in Dublin.

His body was reportedly buried in dense undergrowth - and it appeared an attempt had been made to set it on fire.

Gardaí said a man in his 30s is due to appear before Naas District Court this morning charged in connection with the investigation.
