An 18-year-old man has been remanded on bail after he was charged with an alleged serious assault on a ten-week-old baby girl.
He was charged with assault causing serious harm at a special sitting of Clonakilty District Court this afternoon.
The man, who cannot be named to protect the identity of the child, was arrested in the Mayfield area of Cork city this morning by gardaí from Co Louth.
The little girl suffered severe head injuries and broken bones during the alleged assault in March of this year.
She was taken to a hospital near her home in County Louth before being transferred to Dublin.
She is still receiving 24-hour care in Temple Street Children's Hospital.
