A man in his 20s has died in a fatal road accident involving a motorised go-cart.

Gardaí are investigating the fatal traffic collision that occurred at Nurney in Co. Carlow.

The man was fatally injured when the go-cart he was driving collided with a van at approximately 2:45 this afternoon, Friday 31st March.

He was taken by ambulance to St Luke's Hospital in Kilkenny where he was pronounced dead.

A post mortem examination will take place on Monday at University Hospital Waterford.

Gardaí said the driver of the van was not injured.
