A pedestrian has died in Co Louth after being struck by two cars in the early hours of this morning.

The incident happened at around 3.15am on the R132, Old Newry Road in Dundalk.

The man - who was in his late 20s - was struck by the cars as he crossed the road.

He was pronounced dead at the scene.

The drivers of the cars were not injured.

Gardaí say the road has been closed to allow for a technical examination.
