A man has been arrested at Buckingham Palace after he was seen scaling an outside perimeter wall on Wednesday night, according to police.
The 41-year-old, who has not been identified, was stopped inside the grounds and arrested on suspicion of trespassing on a protected site.
He was unarmed at the time of the arrest and was detained shortly after an alarm was activated at the palace.
A police spokesman said: "I am content that our security measures worked effectively on this occasion and at no time was any individual at risk."
An investigation is currently taking place into the circumstances surrounding the incident.
