A man who was arrested in connection with a fatal hit and run near Thurles, Co Tipperary on Sunday night has been released without charge.

A 68-year-old man was killed when he was hit by a car at around 10.20pm.

A technical examination took place at the scene, and the road has since reopened.

A man in his 40s was arrested in connection with the incident yesterday afternoon and brought to Thurles Garda Station for questioning.

He has since been released without charge and a file is being prepared for the DPP.
