A man has appeared in court charged with murdering a 60-year-old man in Dublin city just over a year ago.
Alan Harte of Island Quay, East Wall, Dublin 3 is accused of murdering Anthony ‘Tony’ Rogers on November 6th last year.
Alan Harte was arrested this morning and taken to Kevin Street Garda Station where he was later charged with the murder of Anthony Rogers.
After being cautioned, the court heard he replied: “He raped me when I was ten; and others too”.
On November 6th last year, a neighbour found Mr Rogers lying in the hallway of his apartment at Robinson’s Court on Cork Street in Dublin’s south inner city.
It’s believed he was attacked at around 2.30 that afternoon.
He was rushed to St James’s Hospital where he was pronounced dead a short time later.
A post mortem established he’d been stabbed.
Mr Rogers was 60 and in a wheelchair at the time after having a leg amputated.
Alan Harte was remanded in custody for a week and Judge Brian O’Shea recommended he receive whatever psychiatric assistance he might need.
