A man has appeared in court charged with murdering his wife during a boating holiday with their children on Lough Erne, County Fermanagh.
41-year-old Stephen McKinney, of Convoy in Donegal appeared before Omagh Magistrates Court this afternoon.
Mr McKinney is accused of murdering Lu Na McKinney – his wife of 15 years – in the early hours of Thursday, April 13th.
The couple were on holidays in the area with their two young children.
The death was originally treated as an accident – with police saying that Mrs McKinney had fallen overboard while checking ropes near Devenish Island.
This afternoon however, the court was told that following a review of the evidence, prosecutors now believe it was a premeditated crime.
Mr McKinney was detained last Wednesday. He is also charged with Possession of a Class C controlled drug.
Investigators told the court they were objecting to bail because they believe Mr McKinney, who is originally from Strabane in County Tyrone, posed a flight risk and could potentially interfere with witnesses.
He was remanded in custody and is due to appear again next week.
