The latest figures from the JNLR have revealed that Newstalk has grown its market share and extended its weekly reach.
The station is one of only two national entities to have increased its market share - rising from 5.8% to 6%.
Meanwhile the channel’s weekly reach has risen by 8,000 to 729,000.
The rise in listenership comes almost a year after the station introduced its new schedule.
Some of the key figures from the JNLR release include:
- Newstalk Breakfast with Shane Coleman and Paul Williams – 119,000
- The Pat Kenny Show – 151,000
- High Noon with George Hook – 98,000
- Moncrieff – 77,000
- Newstalk Drive with Chris Donoghue and Sarah McInerney – 130,000
- Off The Ball Weeknights – 51,000
- Off The Ball Saturday – 125,000
Newstalk spokesperson Patricia Monaghan welcomed the release of the figures this morning.
“We are very pleased with Newstalk’s performance in today’s JNLR figures,” she said.
“This puts us in a strong position as we approach the first anniversary of the new schedule.
“Although it will not be possible to draw a full comparison until the JNLR figures are released in October, with all radio listenership remaining steady at 82%, we are confident that the schedule is resonating with our audience and we look forward to continuing this positive trend.”
The 82% figure means that more than three million adults tune in to the radio every day.
