LISTEN: Lady Gaga releases 'Perfect Illusion', her first new single in nearly four years

Her little monsters should be very happy...

We know it doesn't feel like it, but the last time Miss Gaga released a first single from a new album, it was "Applause" from her ArtPop album back in 2013.

It's not as if Gaga has been missing-in-action since then, having released an album of jazz cover duets with Tony Bennett, was nominated for an Oscar for her track "Til It Happens To You", and even won a Golden Globe for her performance in American Horror Story: Hotel.

But now she's finally back doing what all of her Little Monsters love her for, with "Perfect Illusion", the first single from her upcoming fifth album.

The track was co-written and co-produced with Mark Ronson and Tame Impala's Kevin Parker, with guitar from Queen Of The Stone Age's Josh Homme.

Gaga described it as being "about modern ecstasy... We found our sweet, simple, ragey way of saying it. I get this sick adrenaline rush every time I hear it".

Gaga is said to have also worked with Nile Rodgers, Giorgio Moroder and RedOne (the man behind "Just Dance", "Poker Face", "Bad Romance", "Judas" and several more Gaga tracks) on her new album, with contributions from Beck, Florence & The Machine and Father John Misty, but as of yet the untitled project has no set release date.
