The jury in a Kildare murder trial has asked the court to explain what a “terminal collapse” is.
Zoltan Almasi of Harbour View in Naas is accused of murdering Joseph Dunne by beating him with a baseball bat two years ago.
He admits chasing him down a street but denies striking him with the bat and claims he returned home after seeing the 20-year-old fall.
During the trial, the Deputy State Pathologist said some of Mr. Dunne’s injuries were typical of somebody falling suddenly onto a very hard surface.
The jury has now been deliberating for nine hours.
During closing speeches last week, counsel for the prosecution said the main battleground is whether this is a case of manslaughter or murder.
Yesterday, the jurors were told they could return a majority verdict.
