Iarnród Éireann is advising passengers to double check their service is running this bank holiday weekend.

A number of line improvement works are taking place from Friday to Monday across the rail network.

The company says a number of routes and services will be affected as a result.

These will impact train and DART services across the weekend.

Due to engineering works between Killester/Skerries and Newry/Lisburn, the following service alterations will take place:

Saturday October 28th and Sunday October 29th

All Dublin to Belfast and Belfast to Dublin services will operate as bus transfers on Saturday and Sunday. Buses will serve Drogheda, Dundalk, Newry, Portadown, Lurgan and Lisburn.

06:45hrs Belfast to Dublin Connolly (Saturday) will not service Lisburn and Lurgan.
16:50hrs Dublin Connolly to Belfast (Saturday) will not call at Drogheda.

All Drogheda and Dundalk commuter services will operate between Dundalk/Drogheda and Skerries only, with a bus transfer between Skerries and Dublin Connolly serving Donabate.

Cork, Limerick and Tralee

Due to line improvement works between Hazelhatch/Ballybrophy and engineering works in Mallow the following service alterations will take place:

Friday October 27th

The 16:00hrs Heuston/Cork and 18:20hrs Cork/Heuston will be the last train services to operate direct, with all services thereafter operating with bus transfers between Mallow/Cork/Mallow.

The 17:05hrs Heuston/Tralee and 17:05hrs Tralee/Cork will be the last direct train services on the Tralee line, all services thereafter will be bus transfers between Mallow/Banteer/Mallow.

Saturday October 28th/Sunday October 29th

All services on Saturday and Sunday to/from Cork will be operated by bus transfers between Mallow/Cork/Mallow and
Services to/from Tralee will have bus transfers in place between Mallow/Banteer/Mallow.

Limerick services will operate with revised times between Limerick/Limerick Junction and connect with Cork services at Limerick Junction.

All other Limerick services to Galway, Ballybrophy and Waterford will operate with revised times.

Additionally on Saturday, 06:20hrs Cork/Tralee will be operated by a bus transfer throughout.

Monday October 30th

The following service plan will be in place on the bank holiday Monday.

07:00hrs Heuston/Cork and the 07:00hrs, 09:20hrs and the deferred 13:35hrs Cork/Heuston services will be operated by bus transfers between Mallow/Cork/Mallow with train services operating from Mallow to Dublin Heuston.

09:00hrs & 10:00hrs Heuston/Cork and the 10:20hrs, 11:20hrs, and the 12:20hrs Cork/Heuston services will be operated by bus transfers between Charleville/Cork/Charleville.

13:20hrs Cork/Heuston will operate with bus transfer to Mallow with the train operating from Mallow to Heuston.

11:00hrs Heuston/Cork and the deferred 14:35hrs Cork/Heuston will be first train services to operate fully throughout in each direction.

07:05hrs, 09:05hrs, 11:05hrs ex Tralee will have bus transfers in operation between Banteer/Mallow.

08:55hrs Cork/Tralee service will have bus transfers in operation between Cork/Mallow/Banteer.

11:20hrs Mallow/Tralee will operate as a bus transfers throughout, starting from Charleville.

13:20hrs Mallow/Tralee and deferred 13:15hrs Tralee/Heuston will be first train services to operate fully throughout in each direction.

DART services

Due to engineering works between Killester/Skerries the following service alterations will take place:

Saturday October 28th and Sunday October 29th

DART services will operate between Dublin Connolly and Bray/Greystones, there will be no train service between Dublin Connolly and Malahide/Howth. Dublin Bus will accept valid rail tickets for travel within the affected DART route.

Drogheda/Dundalk services will operate between Dundalk/Drogheda and Skerries, bus transfer will operate between Skerries/Donabate and Connolly.

Rush & Lusk station will be closed. Dublin Bus will accept valid rail tickets for travel between Rush & Lusk and Connolly station Only.

Rosslare/Sligo/Longford and Maynooth services will operate as normal.

Galway and Westport

Friday October 27th to Monday October 30th

Galway and Westport services will operate a full schedule in both directions, with bank holiday alterations.

Waterford

Friday October 27th to Monday October 30th

Dublin Heuston to Waterford services will operate a full schedule in both directions, with bank holiday alterations.

Portlaoise and Kildare to Dublin Commuter services

Friday October 27th to Monday October 30th

Dublin Heuston/Portlaoise services will operate a full schedule in both directions, with Bank Holiday alterations.

Rosslare

Friday October 27th to Monday October 30th

Dublin Connolly/Rosslare Europort services will operate a full schedule in both directions, with bank holiday alterations.

Sligo

Friday October 27th to Monday October 30th

Dublin Connolly/Sligo services will operate a full schedule in both directions, with Bank Holiday alterations.

It is advising all customers to check their journey details prior to travelling.
