Gardai in County Kerry say a murder investigation is underway after a man in his 70s died following an incident in Ballyduff this morning.
Gardaí and emergency services were called to the scene of a collision involving a car and teleporter vehicle at Rattoo at around 8.45am.
The driver of the car - who was in his 70s - was pronounced dead at the scene.
The driver of the other vehicle was uninjured.
A man - aged in his 60s - has been arrested and he is being detained at Listowel Garda station.
Speaking to Radio Kerry, Superintendent Dan Keane - who is leading the investigation - says Gardaí are appealing to anyone with information to come forward.
He explained: "We have actually opened a murder inquiry here in Listowel in respects of it."
He added that a full post-mortem examination will be carried out either this evening or early tomorrow morning.
