The IFA says it expects the live export trade to Turkey will open this week.
Association President Joe Healy says it will be a very positive development for the Irish livestock sector and will add much-needed competition to the trade for weanlings and younger stock.
Turkey imported 380,000 head last year, most of which were from South America and France.
