As expected, Theresa May was unable to get her Brexit deal over the line.

Indeed, UK parliamentarians rejected it by a crushing and historic 230 vote margin.

What happens in the long-term is open to question. But from a sporting angle, how will it affect football in England where many Irish players ply their trades?

"To Hell With The Rest Of The World"

Some, like Cardiff City manager Neil Warnock, appear to welcome a potential exit from the European Union.

"Why did we have a referendum in the first bloody place? I can't wait to get out if I'm honest," he said at the weekend.

"I think we'll be far better out of the bloody thing. In every aspect. To hell with the rest of the world. Football-wise as well."

Ironically, Warnock made those "to hell with the rest of the world" comments while sitting in front of a sign reading 'Visit Malaysia'.

In contrast, Jamie Carragher spoke out from an anti-Brexit standpoint at the weekend.

But what it means structurally for the game is another matter. The Associated Press' Rob Harris joined us on the Football Show to discuss the situation in-depth in the wake of the vote.
