Tech firm HP last night confirmed it will cut between 3,000 and 4,000 jobs over the next three years. This is part of a global restructuring plan. It's thought that this plan could generate gross annual savings of more than $200 million from 2020. 

The company, formerly known as Hewlett-Packard, was split into two separate entities last year. HP Inc now homes the computer and printer manufacturing process while cloud computing and the software side of the business is part of Hewlett-Packard Enterprise. 

HP has a Galway base that employs 584 people. Its 87,000 sq ft innovation centre was opened in April 2015. The staff count at the Irish plant increased last year, but the firm's profits were cut by more than a half.
