Summer School on The Road to Marriage Equality

  • The Marriage Equality campaign made history not just in Ireland but internationally. A year later as a nation we are still moved by how successful the campaign was in garnering the support of thousands across Ireland. Now if only we could bottle this feeling, use this recipe for positive social change and apply it to other social justice issues, then we would really make a difference. Right? The Social Intelligence Associates founded by Dr Grainne Healy (former Co Director of Yes Equality and Chairwoman of Marriage Equality) and Denise Charlton (former CEO of the Immigrant Council of Ireland and former Director of Women's Aid) are hoping to bring together Irish and foreign social justice NGOs to learn the lessons from the referendum campaign of 2015, in the Summer School on The Road to Marriage Equality. Grainne and Denise join Dil.
  • The Global Citizen Awards are an innovative personal development award that enables international volunteers to share their overseas volunteering experiences, to help raise awareness of global issues in Ireland. It is sponsored by Irish Aid and supported by 19 Irish volunteer sending partner organisations. The award is recognised by Comhlámh and IDEA. This year’s winners of the Global Citizen Awards Karina McGinley and Stephanie Kirwan speak to Dil.
  • The Ulster Bank Young Social Innovators of the Year 2016 Awards, now in its 15th year, is the biggest celebration of social innovation in Ireland and one of the largest youth events in the country. Over 6,500 students have been involved throughout the year, advocating for, and actively creating positive change in their communities through social innovation projects. This week Dil welcomes to the show some more winners of the Young Social Innovators of the Year awards with  their Project Born into Porn. Joining Dil from Moyle Park College, Clondalkin, are Aaron Douglas , Fuad Usman-Dio, Shane Rafter and their YSI GuideRowen Lacey.
