Gardaí are warning of an increase in fraudulent calls trying to get bank details from members of the public.

It says these calls are claiming to be a bank or Visa or MasterCard agent, advising people of a fraud on their card.

Gardaí say if people receive such a call, and are uncertain if it is genuine, to call the number on the back of their card.

In a post on its Facebook page, An Garda Síochána has reiterted its crime prevention advice.
