Gardaí in are investigating after a woman's body was discovered at an apartment in County Donegal last night.

Ambulance personnel alerted gardaí after they were called to an apartment on William street at around 8pm last night.

Gardaí arrived at the scene shortly after 8pm.

The 43-year-old woman was pronounced dead a short time later and her body remains at the scene.

The scene has been preserved for technical examination.

The State Pathologist has been notified and is due to attend this afternoon. 

Gardaí said they will determine the course of the investigation based on the outcome of a post mortem examination.
