Gardaí are examining CCTV footage and awaiting the results of forensics tests in an investigation into an alleged rape at the Bon Secours Hospital in Kerry.

A 61-year-old woman has alleged she was raped by a doctor following a scan at the Tralee hospital earlier this month.

The doctor was employed on a temporary basis.

Kerry's Chief Superintendent Con Cadogan could not confirm reports that the doctor has since left the country.

He told Radio Kerry the scene has been examined by forensic experts, and is appealing for anyone with information to contact them.
