Gardaí have interviewed 200 people as part of an investigation into the assault of Kym Owens.

The 18-year-old first year student was attacked in Maynooth a fortnight ago after she got off a private bus in the town.

She remains under sedation in hospital after suffering multiple injuries.

The assault happened as she made her way back to college on Sunday November 18th.

The timeline of what exactly happened remains unclear.

Foggy conditions on the evening of the attack prevented a clear view of the scene on CCTV footage.

Conor Feehan is a journalist with the Irish Independent.

"It is still a wide-open investigation and Kym Owens herself possibly holds the key to this investigation.

"Gardaí are hoping that when she does regain consciousness that she will remember what happened in time - and that that could further the investigation to conclusion", he told Newstalk Breakfast.
