Gardaí are investigating the alleged abduction of a man in County Louth.

He was driving a silver Mercedes along the Ardee-M1 link road at around 5.30pm yesterday evening when he was struck from behind by a grey Toyota Avensis.

Gardai say three men then forcefully removed the driver of the Mercedes into their vehicle and left in the direction of the Motorway.

The man was released a short time later and did not require any medical attention.

The grey Toyota Avensis left in the direction of the motorway.
